I am a lecturer in computer science, having recently (2025) completed my PhD in Informatics at the University of California, Irvine. My research focus is on collaboration and creativity within software teams.
Prior to commencing my PhD, I worked in industry for 20+ years, in a variety of roles ranging from engineer to product manager to leading a large engineering team for a major investment bank. This work was predominantly in technology teams in the financial services domain. I worked in a variety of distributed teams, and this experience drives my interest in how software teams work.
I have a BA (Hons) in Mathematics and Computation from the University of Oxford and an MSc in Advanced Computer Science from Manchester University, UK.
