Bio:

Ilya Zakharov is a Senior Researcher at JetBrains Research’s Human-AI Experience (HAX) team. His current work centers on human-AI experience in software development, with broader interests in code review and multimodal interaction for developer tools.

He studies how developers use AI assistants in IDEs, how coding experience shapes their mental models of AI, and how AI features can be designed to be context-aware, transparent, and aligned with real workflows. Trained in psychology and neuroscience, he brings mixed-method and behavioral-science approaches to research on AI-assisted software development.
